Acid Approved: J.Crew Keeps It Simple
Posted December 11, 2012 by Geoff Phillips
Sometimes it's refreshing to see an email that is clear and effective without being crowded. This holiday season my inbox has been flooded with emails that feature twenty different items, with more colors than a Christmas tree. This minimalist design from J.Crew was a breath of fresh air.
J.Crew uses a single, well-dressed model on a white background to make this email pop. I loved how they broke the plane by putting their incentive offer in the model's space with a strong vertical divider. The offer comes through loud and clear with the largest font in the email and plenty of white space.
This email's subject line, "Gift it: 25% off $150+, 30% off $250+, plus free shipping at jcrew.com" is a bit long, but its meaning becomes clear once the email is open. J.Crew's simple and focused design communicates elegance and tastefulness better than a catalog of images ever could. Kudos to you, J.Crew.
