Project Thumbnails Make a Comeback in Our Email Readiness Platform

“Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone?”

Those are wise words from Joni Mitchell’s 1970 song “Big Yellow Taxi.” A tune covered by many, including Bob Dylan, Amy Grant, and Counting Crows. Harry Styles even recorded a version for the Gen-Z crowd in 2020.

When project thumbnails disappeared from the Email on Acid platform following some recent user interface (UI) updates, our customers let us know they missed the feature. We heard you loud and clear!

This month, the Email on Acid team brought project thumbnails back to our email readiness solution. And we totally get it. Those little pictures are much more than a visual enhancement. They serve an important purpose.

How project thumbnails make life easier

Email marketers have a lot of responsibilities with multiple projects and various balls to keep juggling day after day. Appropriately naming projects in the Email on Acid platform is a perfectly fine way to stay organized … but having something you can recognize with no more than a glance is even better.

They say, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” for a reason. When time is of the essence, and your brain is already fried from staring at code or marketing metrics all day, the ability to quickly identify the right project in a long list of options is super helpful.

There’s science to back this up, too. According to our friends at Movable Ink, the human brain processes images 60-thousand times faster than text! Now, we can’t promise that thumbnails will get you through your email pre-deployment checklist 60-thousand times faster, but it’s sure to save you at least a little time.

Did you know?

According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, while the first recorded use of the word “thumbnail” to denote a small picture dates back to 1852, it was used with that same meaning as far back as the 17th century.

Look for thumbnails when you’re scrolling through the Home screen and the Projects tab in Email on Acid. You’ll see the project name you used, the type of project (Campaign Precheck, Analytics, Email Editor, etc.). And, back by popular demand, you’ll see a small image of the email the project is connected to as well.

UPDATE:

In our March 2021 release, the Email on Acid product development team also added timestamps to the testing platform. That makes it even easier to identify the exact email test projects you want to review. Log in to check it out!

It’s clear that simple enhancements like project thumbnails make the Email on Acid platform more flexible and help email teams stay agile.

More to come in 2021

Bringing thumbnails back is just the beginning of a year full of helpful updates. Stay tuned as we prepare to reveal more ways to make finding and organizing Email on Acid projects, faster, easier, and more intuitive.

A big thank you goes out to the customers who told us they missed project thumbnails. Luckily, unlike what happens when you pave paradise, this was a feature that didn’t disappear forever.
