Outlook on Windows ignoring image source query strings?

Test case: https://www.emailonacid.com/app/acidtest/display/summary/b4uTGFp4fs1auRlTP0mbtEpddgiDUWziiLnz1LxsvUomj/shared

It seems that all Windows versions of Outlook strip or ignore the query string on the src attribute of img tags. This causes broken/missing image icons to appear despite the image URL being valid (unless Outlook is actually stripping the querystring rather than just ignoring it, in which case a valid URL is being broken by the client).

Obviously, this is something I’ll have to work around (maybe by attaching images or maybe by base64 encoding them) but I’d really appreciate it if someone at EoA could verify that this mechanism is at fault, and if it is, then add it to the developer tips on Outlook tests.

mediapeers,
Thanks for posting!

I can confirm that Outlook doesn’t accept media query strings. This affects all versions of desktop Outlook on Windows, but Mac Outlooks can load the string.

We’ll add it to our tips and tricks soon. Have a great day!
