Gmail Inconsistency

We tested an HTML email template extensively in email on acid.  In viewing it on emailonacid, it worked perfect in all major browsers, mobile, etc.

However, when we really published it, it did not appear the same in Gmail web browser.

To clarify: it appeared fine in emailonacid’s Gmail browser view, but it is not working in the real Gmail.  It has broken up some of the tables and shifted content around the page.

Any thoughts as to differences in the view?  Why is emailonacid not consistent in this instance?

Hi gosave,

When you first ran your Acid Test, did our code validation pick up any critical errors in your HTML?  For example, if you have a stray </div>, that would greatly effect the way your email would render within the Gmail interface.

The best way for us to look into this issue further is for you to re-run your test from your archive, open the result in Gmail and then use the “Developer Tools” drop down to select “Report a Discrepancy.”  That will not only start up a support ticket but we will also receive the email in question so we can test it before getting back to you.
