Hi,

From a blog post Michelle Klann wrote about “Emailology: 7 Tips and Tricks Regarding Margins and Padding in HTML Emails”, there was a problem with margin and padding with the P tag.

I was wondering if using a Blockquote instead of P would be a good practice? I tried in the EmailonAcid application and It works on all Email Client except Old Lotus version, as usual.

This is only for a signature purpose, not a whole newsletter.

Thanks.

Carl.

Thanks for reaching out to us!  Yeah unfortunately since I wrote that article, Hotmail and Outlook.com have completely discontinued all support for margins.  Margins are, however supported by default in blockquotes so that’s not a bad idea at all.  The only problem is that each email client/web browser might use varying default margins for blockquotes.  So, I’d recommend trying that unless you are trying to be pixel perfect.

Lotus Notes 6.5 and 7 are really pretty dated.  Our stats show that less than .2% of users are reading emails from those versions today.  As a general rule, it’s safe to assume that those clients don’t support any embedded or inline css.  So again, maybe blockquotes are your ticket!

Hope this helps!
