Android 4.0 is the Latest Addition to Our Testing Previews
Whether they’re being launched into space as a NASA satellite,or used to find the nearest pizza joint, the Android OS has made quite an impact on the mobile device market. Androids actually own an impressive 61% of the mobile OS market, and in a previous blog post, we indicated that Gingerbread (OS 2.3.x) owned a staggering 60% of the total Android distribution.
Despite this number, OS 4.0.x or better known as Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), came in second place with about 16% of the total. While it seemed like a fairly insurmountable lead, ICS’ market share is still growing. In the past month, its market share has increased to 21%, despite an initial release date of nearly 10 months ago. It seems many hardware manufacturers are still working on ICS upgrade packages for their Android devices, and are taking longer to distribute them than expected.
With this level of growth, it only seemed logical to add ICS to our mobile rendering devices within our Acid Test program. So we did! This new device retains the same testing features its Gingerbread brothers have, in their ability to preview an email in landscape and portrait mode.
We’ve also added Outlook 2013 and Outlook.com to our rendering options but, as usual with outlook, that will require a separate post. 🙂
