Yahoo! New Has Been Discontinued!

Say goodbye to those pesky Yahoo! shortcuts and media query workarounds!

After logging into Yahoo!, here’s what you will see if you haven’t upgraded yet:

At this time, they still support Yahoo Classic, which aside from its support for embedded styles is very similar to Gmail.

With Yahoo! Shortcuts out of the way, controlling your link colors is much easier.  To do so, we recommend that you start by adding this to your embedded css:

<style type="text/css">
  a, a:link {color:#2A5DB0; text-decoration: underline;}

The color used above is the pre-established link color for Gmail. This will overwrite Hotmail and Yahoo Beta’s embedded link colors and make it consistent with Gmail. From there, you must overwrite this color inline:

<a href="http://www.emailonacid.html" style="color:red; text-decoration:none;">Text Link Here</a>

The inline declaration for “text-decoration:none” is optional and is only required for Gmail. You can overwrite it in your embedded CSS for all other clients.

Here’s to being out with the “New” and the “Beta” and being in with just plain old “Yahoo! Mail!”
