It's always a challenge to create emails that will look good in every client, and it may have just gotten a little bit harder. Hotmail and Outlook.com no longer support the margin attribute. Read more about it here!

Sometimes it can seem like quite a challenge to figure out why your email isn't getting delivered. A few SPAM blockers will kick out reasons (like Postini and SpamAssassin), but many others won't give you any information at all. So how can you figure out what problem is plaguing your latest email campaign? It's not as difficult as you might think. The tools we offer at Email on Acid can make it easy to determine the problem.

We loved this simple holiday email from Disney. It had just enough pictures to remind viewers of exactly who they'd be shopping for, and a powerful incentive offer. All that and a shining star!

JJ Ramberg starts the segment by guessing that a lot of her viewers use email to communicate with their customers and users.

We're betting that she's absolutely right, and we'd like to thank her for stressing the importance of pre-flight rendering and SPAM checks, as well as pointing out that EOA does more than provide screenshots, we provide insights into the discrepancies discovered.

Sometimes it's refreshing to see an email that is clear and effective without being crowded. This holiday season my inbox has been flooded with emails that feature twenty different items, with more colors than a Christmas tree. This minimalist design from J.Crew was a breath of fresh air.

This is the second entry in our series on SPAM filters: how they work, how to avoid them, and what we can learn from their output. SpamAssassin is an open source, content-matching SPAM filter released under the Apache License 2.0. It uses a number of different filtering techniques, including DNS-based spam detection, Bayesian filtering, external programs, blacklists and online databases. Luckily for us, it produces a header which we can use to determine how it categorized and scored your email.

Pottery Barn recently sent out this holiday email with a festive red/white color scheme and it really caught our eye. The whole email is built around a gorgeous image of a red and white martini glass with a strongly blurred background and a stand-out incentive offer.

Hallmark sent us this excellent holiday email for their Snowvember event, and we're adding it to our "nice" list. Clean colors and cute snowflakes make this email shine.

I recently saw this email from Lee, and I think that Mozify could be a perfect fit for their next email marketing campaign. It's a great promotional email, with a clear call to action, but that wouldn't be evident to anybody who sees their email with images blocked. I used our Mozify tool to give this email a much needed makeover.

Postini is a cloud-computing service provided by Google for filtering email spam and malware before it is delivered to a client's mail server. Analyzing Postini headers can give you a lot of information about why an email was flagged as spam or not. I know what you're thinking: that sounds pretty confusing. It's actually not as bad as it might seem. This blog is the first in a series which will take you through it step by step.

Kenneth Cole’s strategy, copy, and design teams did rather well with this one.  With a subject line of “Get 15% off by helping Haiti”, what subscriber wouldn’t be intrigued to open this email and see how?

This email combines a custom cartoon illustration with photography that ultimately creates a fun reminder of who the true consumer of these goods is. Calling attention to the savings, however, shows they know who they're really communicating with.

I'm not usually one to be drawn into to the intricacies and options that make up the world of bedding, but this email really caught my attention. Many emails make the mistake of trying to squeeze in too much, Pottery Barn on the other hand, seems pretty confident you're going to be drawn in.

Nike has grown from a small Oregon based operation, to one of the most prolific sport equipment brands in the world. Their marketing team probably had something to do with that, and this email is a great example of how.
